Inland Revenue (IR) is currently in the midst of a multi-year, multi-stage change programme delivering business transformation (BT). Part of this BT strategy is about changing IR to make it simpler, more open and certain for New Zealanders to pay their taxes and receive their entitlements. Aligned to this strategy, and in partnership with Deloitte Digital, IR has moved one step closer to this goal by providing customers with a choice about how they login to myIR.


Together with IR and the Department of Internal Affairs, Deloitte Digital delivered integration with RealMe. This utilises the all-of-government cross-agency service that allows customers to access online services across the majority of agencies, with the same user ID and password. The RealMe service handles the login process for over three million customer accounts.

IR customers now have the choice to use their RealMe credentials to login to myIR, which helps to streamline their login experience across agencies. So far, more than 100,000 customers have chosen to authenticate with IR using RealMe credentials.
