As a world-class provider of weather information, forecasts and intelligence, MetService is as much a technology company as a weather service. Customers are at the heart of everything MetService does. Deloitte Digital collaborated with MetService to introduce Amazon’s Alexa technology, helping to keep their service offerings optimised and current to customer expectations.
Alexa provides the most accurate, up to date forecasts, including current weather, rain, recommended layers of clothing and, importantly, if there are active warnings for New Zealand towns and cities. Deloitte Digital brought project management, UX, design, implementation and test skills together to help create these new services to meet customer demand. The cloud-based voice service is available on tens of millions of devices from Amazon and third-party device manufacturers. With this technology, natural voice experiences offer customers a more intuitive way to interact with the technology they use every day.

Alexa devices now get a quality report from MetService for the weather in your town or city. To enhance the experience still further, users can set their home address in the Alexa companion app allowing them to use the skill without specifying a location. Alexa can now ask Met Service what is the current weather like and check if there are any active warnings. Keeping New Zealanders dry, safe and at the heart of their service.
